MESAM
MESAM
is the Turkish society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction
rights. As a state-recognized organization, MESAM administers the
exploitation rights of creators of music in accordance with the Law on
Intellectual Property Rights No 5846. MESAM is a collecting society which is
subject to supervision and control by the Ministry Of Culture and Tourism of
Turkey.
MESAM
is a member of CISAC (International Confederation of Authors’ Rights
Societies) and BIEM (International Bureau of Mechanical Rights Society).
MISSION
On
behalf of its members, MESAM
-
collects the royalties for the utilization of the works of the members and
distributes the relevant royalties to them,
-
controls the commercial rights of its members and prevent the unauthorized
utilization of their works and take necessary precautions,
-
takes legal action,
-
prepares tariffs for utilization of their works, negotiates and signs
agreements with music users,
-
communicates with related government bodies, institutions and other parties
in Turkey and abroad
-
co-operates with other collecting societies and neighboring rights societies
-
In the framework of the reciprocal representation agreements signed with
affiliated societies around the world, MESAM protects the rights of foreign
authors and composers in Turkey. MESAM signed 60 agreements to protect the
rights of over 100 countries in Turkey. These agreements also ensure the
protection of Turkish authors’ rights abroad.
